TradingView for Beginners: How to Set Up Your Workspace

Why TradingView is the most used platform by retail traders

TradingView has more than 50 million active users worldwide. It is the most complete free platform for technical analysis, with access to thousands of assets — forex, indices, cryptocurrencies, stocks, and commodities — in a single interface.

It does not require downloading any program: it works directly in the browser and has a very complete mobile app. This makes it the ideal option for beginner traders and also for professionals who need portability.

First steps: create your account

Go to tradingview.com and create a free account. The basic (free) plan is sufficient to get started. It includes up to 3 indicators per chart, price alerts, and access to all available assets.

Paid plans (Essential, Plus, Premium) offer more simultaneous indicators, more alerts, and advanced tools, but are not necessary for most early-stage traders.

How to set up your first chart

When you open TradingView, search for the asset you want to analyze in the search bar. For forex, type the pair directly (EURUSD, XAUUSD, NAS100). For American indices, search for SPX or US500.

Select the timeframe according to your trading style: H4 and D1 for swing traders, H1 and M15 for intraday traders. Avoid very low timeframes (M1, M5) if you are starting — they generate too much noise and make learning difficult.

Essential indicators to get started

  • Volume: The most important indicator. It shows how much volume there was in each candle and helps you distinguish real movements from false movements.
  • VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price): Volume-weighted average price. Widely used by institutional traders as a value reference.
  • EMA 20 and EMA 50: Exponential moving averages that help identify the trend in the timeframe you are analyzing.

The Smart Volume Flow visual tool in TradingView

Smart Volume Flow includes access to a visual tool integrated directly into TradingView that facilitates the reading of volume flow in real time. This tool is part of what makes our methodology unique: instead of interpreting indicators in isolation, you learn to read the market as a coherent system.

In our live sessions, we apply this analysis in real time, with the market open, so you can see exactly how theory translates into real trading decisions.

Next step

The technical setup is just the beginning. The real differential is knowing how to interpret what the chart is telling you. If you want to take that step with structure and support, learn about Smart Volume Flow access plans.
